Relatives can make great employees… Or indescribably horrible employees.

I can empathize. I frequently have vision problems. When that happens, I have a hard time seeing myself go to work.

A new hire showed up for work on Mon – missed T/W/Th with no notice to the office. Came in Friday and couldn’t understand why he was terminated. He explained that he didn’t feel like working and to come in would be unfair to the company as he wouldn’t be at his best.

I’ve had jobs where I felt like that, but I showed up anyway. It’s called a work ethic and/or professionalism.

I once had an employee who refused to take a specific work assignment, claiming she had a right to choose what work she did. I told her I had the right to choose not to pay her … She took the work assignment.

I don´t like to go to work in the morning. I know that if I don´t, I don´t get paid.I like that even less.

Welcome to the new normal. You work for the company for years, always show up on time, and get your work done. The new hire shows up late, starts taking sick days and vacation days the second they are eligible, doesn’t complete their work…and makes $20K more than you.

If I didn’t feel good when I worked for an accountant I would take work home to do and would work even I couldn’t come into the office because I felt ill or because of weather, etc.
