montana lady - did you really miss the recent news fron Japan?

I think he’s sending the clothes and food to Japan. But I think the symbol he used to represent Japan is actually the battle flag from WWII, not their current flag, so it’s not so easily recognized.

Hint: The Sunset/Sunrise is representative of Japan. They are sending some much needed help

I get the sentiment, but not sure about stealing food and clothing to give to our Japanese friends. I am touched by the freewill offering, though.

The Japanese are ambitious, hardworking people. They will rebuild bigger and better. So far I haven’t seen our benevolent government tax us like a thief in the night to send our money overseas, Wait a minute, yes I have.

So that’s who the slab exchange is with.

Very touching. But it’s going to take a lot of clams to rebuild. And my $500 was an insignificant contribution….a sipit in the bucket compared to what they’re going to need.

Anyone who can say this with a straight face has no right to talk about America, the Founding Fathers or patriotism.

Darkeforce is an example of what they are teaching our kids in college these days. It is all about the commune… there is no more independent spirit in people any more. New world order and global governance is where we are today. They want worker bees who contribute to the hive with no brains and no freedom to do as they wish. We have been reduced to insects just working for the good of the “colony” and then we die. More and more and more taxes which go down a huge hole to make the government which “produces” nothing bigger. A cancer I say it is.

I would have been happier if the artist hadn’t used the Japanese imperial flag used in World War II. Some of us have a bad taste in our mouths still from that era.

Grog, your “spit in the bucket” when combined with everyone else’s WILL make a difference. We say this to our Service Men and Women as a fitting, but PC thing, so why not say it to you for what you have done?

Seeing as we are talking about taxes, try on this scenario: Your house catches fire and the local FD arrives, but before they will put out the fire, they make you sign an agreement to pay for the use of the equipment and water, the time they spend on the job, and any injuries and /or deaths to the firefighters that occur.

OR

Your home has been burgled, or you were mugged, and before the Cop on the Beat will take any information, you are required to sign the same type agreement.

OR

The community is going to repave the street where you live, but first sends you a bill for what :your: portion of the street, in front of your house will cost. And when you don’t pay it up front, the stree does not get paved.

Taxes are the way in which we pay for essential services. Yeah, it pays for the big things like Defense and Police and Fire services, but it pays for the little things too. Things that would nickle and dime you to death if you had to pay for them out of your pocket when they came around.

Lived in Germany for 8 years (as a US Soldier) and talked to many of my German counterparts/”employees” about their taxes. They “lost” almost half of their paycheck each period to taxes. They get more, but they pay more to get it. Just like we should.

Ever hear of the Marshall Plan? Thanks to American tax dollars being used to rebuild Europe, the Europeans were able toget their economies running again after the war;.. which meant that they could afford to buy Coca Cola, Marlboros, and Macdonalds hamburgers; what goes round comes round…

My dear old ad once said to me,”Son, I am glad to pay Taxes on my income, because the more taxes I pay the more money I made.” The money that is I pay is really the governments. I am just holding it for them. You really get paid less than your what you think is your salary. i.e. If I were to be paid $10.00 / hr , I am really being paid $7.20. I calculate on the lesser figure….SO QUITCHURBELLYACKIN’. Live with it!!!
