It’s the very reason I like text, it can wait for an answer. (Beside having a written record.)

There’s a bit of case law suggesting you can be partially liable if you text someone you know to be driving, and they have an accident through the distraction, though of course the idiot texting while driving bears primary liability.

I have a better way. I just don’t text at all. If I want to speak to someone who is not there, I wait til I am not driving…and then PHONE them and speak to them directly. Texts can always be misread.

I write (almost) only email with a keyboard. I don’t feel the least bit disadvantaged.

Is that what “Do Not Disturb” mode is for? To let other people know you don’t want to be disturbed?

I thought it was supposed to be me telling my phone I don’t want to be disturbed. As in, don’t make any noises or vibrations or anything. But it never seemed to work that way, so I guess it stands to reason that it’s for something else.

Except during my paid working hours, I’m on Do Not Disturb from everyone but my wife and parents at ALL TIMES. It’s one of the greatest inventions of the 21st century, and that’s what it’s there for. :)

I don’t use DnD; I simply answer texts when I get around to it.

Anyone who thinks that I’m automatically going to answer a text from them the moment I receive it, probably isn’t someone I need, or want, to know.
