So who’s going to start the argument on whether the Insectoids represent liberals or conservatives?

The Insectoids will never attack. They’re obviously Republicans, and therefore will only want to send in others to fight for them.

rayannina: apparently, you did. And the answer is simple: since conservatives are evil by definition, they must be represented by whichever side looks the worst (in this case, the Insectoids). The rest is just a matter of coming up with an appropriate rationale for the comparison.

Could it be that it’s just plain old general satire and not really political, just a funny joke without any politicking involved? I thought it was just a funny series. Besides, there’s enough fodder out there on both sides and in the middle to make fun of and satirize. Just sayin’.

I will conserve my comments until others have a more liberal attitude towards Republicans. It’s the Democratic way. In other words, a liberal Republic should be funded on conservative Democratic ideal. unfortunately, Pat Paulson and Alfred E Newman may not be on the ballot outside the Solar System because Brewster was playing Pong when they pressed Enter.

Actually I think our illustrious cartoonist may be poking satirical fun at religion (especially the Islamists) who seem to have no problem saying they are a religion of peace out of one side of their mouths, then demanding the destruction of Israel and the US and western democracies out of the other.

Sharon Angle advocates for “Second Amendment Remedies” Michell Bachmann informs us that the “Founding Fathers” worked endlessly to end slavery back in 1776. You don’t like this superior version of reality?

Whether it’s political or not kinda depends on the lead time.

For newspapers, it’s like three or four weeks.

For the web, who knows, Tim Rickard might have drawn this up yesterday.

If he drew it up yesterday, it’s probably based on the recent flap where supposedly rhetoric from Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh is responsible for that nutcase shooting Congresswoman Giffords.

Why is Agent X watching the Faux News Channel, and when did it become interactive?

BTW, “There you go again” was a line Reagan often used when the person debating him tried to introduce actual facts into the debate. Sadly, it worked for him.

    And one more thing…

Spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt (or FUD) is a strategy deployed effectively by neoconservatives. That certainly qualifies them as the “dark hats” in the American political spectrum. The recent Republican response to the state of the union was decidedly pessimistic. One could argue that it was realistic, but pessimism is generally not considered to be the best approach towards turning the economy around.

Absolutely great strip today, Tim. For those of you who haven’t been paying attention over the years, yes, this strip is a commentary on lefties telling righties to tone down the rhetoric while engaging in speech that is oftentimes much more defamatory in nature. For some reason, we had a national “discussion” about Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck after a schizophrenic, pot-smoking, occult-influenced nihilist used a gun to commit a crime that even took the life of a nine-year-old girl.

This week’s strips have been a commentary on the absurdity of the Left’s reaction to the crime.

“Why can’t you racist fascist conservatives tone down the rhetoric?”

So where in the world is Mad-Dog Keith Olbermann these days? I hear there’s an opening over at NPR.

But just to be fair-and-balanced, if Sarah Palin wants to be President, there’s a slot opening soon in Egypt. (Credit to Jay Leno.)

I generally read this strip as an observation of politics in general. The insectoids could be either party. They are practically the same most of the time.

Again, NO, it is not either party…one party is consistently working to silence talk radio with the “fairness” doctrine and institute “net neutrality.” The other side is not pushing the silencing of voices at all.

Liberals once at least maintained a pretense of being in favor of liberty, but they stopped that years ago. That’s why I usually reserve the word liberal for old-timers like Hubert Humphrey and use the word Leftist for the current crop.
