Several major stores will be closed on Thanksgiving this year. Home Depot, Dillardâs T.J. Maxx, Samâs Club, to name a few. Bless their little hearts! It has never been worth it to me to wait hours in line to save money. Itâs called âBlack Fridayâ because stores make huge profits that day and it puts them in the black for the year due to the huge volume. I guess âLoss Leadersâ is the appropriate term.
I am boycotting this obscene idea. Thanksgiving is for Family Not Shopping. Iâm staying home and I urge everyone to do the same.If they donât make any money off it they wonât do it again.
Itâs a bit more symbioticâor perhaps parasiticâthan you describe. The stores offer these âbargainsâ (generally less of a bargain than you think, or not available to you) in order to get you to come out and shop on a day youâd otherwise sit in front of the TV pretending to watch football while the turkey kicks in. Itâs called âconditioning,â itâs one of the most thoroughly proven areas of social engineering, and what youâre really saying is, âit works.â
Demand and supply . . and advertising. People want to save money? So donât spend it. I worked retail for over twenty years and I wonât shop on holidays but there are them that will. If you arenât part of the solution, you are part of the problem.. Hope every one has a good Thanksgiving and special thanks to all our troops that are not here to go shopping today.. . . . âş
Wail-Mart, Satanâs Superstore, usually has one piece of junk for sale cheap. If you want better, youâll pay the same as elsewhere. I got a gift card, bought a VCR, and it broke in a month. Got a cash refund and, for a few dollars more at Brandsmart, got a much better one not made in China.

Yep. Wal-Mart DOES have a lot of gall. Let people enjoy their families. Happy Thanksgiving.

In that line up you have to be careful that you are not being eaten.

Ooooor, you could just stay home. Make staying open on Thanksgiving unprofitable for the stores. Thatâs what Iâm doing.
