I love manicotti, but I get mine in an Italian restaurant and not a school cafeteria.

Some of us hate manicotti because we first encountered it in a school cafeteria.

After all this, Susie went on to med school and into ER medicine at a top trauma hospital. Colleagues would tell unbelieving stories of her ability to handle any situation. Nothing could faze her, no matter how gross.

He finally “got” Susie, after trying for years. They’ll tell this story to their grandchildren.PS: I love manicotti too. But I only ate it in restaurants. Or mom’s homemade, and mom was a fine cook.

Since when does an elementary school have a separate math class. When I was in elementary school, we first called the subject “number work” and later “arithmetic.”

Back in my day, the only “pasta” we ever saw in the cafeteria came out of a can…and tasted like the inside of one.

Calvin always has an angle. His mind is always thinking about getting out of things, especially math class.

The best manicotti I ever ate was an Italian/American man’s home cooking. Restaurant manicotti just can’t reach the standard Mr. Rampino set. Not had any really good manicotti since.

I love manicotti! Only I ever had it at restaurants. Or at home.

…or cheaply bought at a Dollar Tree. I’m so poor.

This is why Susie suffered from anorexia later in life. She could never eat a school lunch.

NinelMost “ethnic” food comes from the US, this being just one example. Chili con carne 1870s San Antonio; enchiladas 1880s Albuquerque; chop sui 1900s San Francisco; etc.

I am surprised at Susie’s reaction. She normally sees right through Calvin’s schemes. I expected a “Yuk, gross! Will you ever grow up” type response.

Just don’t teach Calvin the words “fistulizing Crohn’s.” Even if he just pretended to have it.

Calvin has a thing about manicotti. I remember alien scum, (his parents) after he had been captured, threatening it with him. He escaped, with the alien scum saying he would have cold manicotti for breakfast.
