At 6 years old, 25 cents, to me, was larger than $250 to my parents. Let’s see, in 1955, what could I buy with 25 cents???

When I was his age, that was a comic book, a Coke, and a candy bar.

My weekly allowance in 1968 was 15 cents. I’d promptly dash to the corner store and get a Chunky for 5 cents and a (glass) bottle of Coke for 10.

Ah, 1996. When 25 cents would buy you a slightly used Cadillac.

Local grocery store had Coke in glass for 6 cents. Had to put the penny in first, then the nickel, the push the handle. Only then could you pull the coke bottle out. But, you still had 19 cents with which to indulge yourself.

If I had nickel for every time that happened to me, I’d have a quarter.

25 cents used to get you two eggs, toast, and coffee at Wall Drug; and of course, the ice water was free…

Yes, but now money is made of much cheaper metals, and they continue to research even less expensive metals to use.

Just a blower? Use a flamethrower instead. It will save you a lot of time. And knowing Calvin, he could get away with it if he wanted to.
