Sort of reminds me when I found out I was going to have my first baby - my first reaction was “I’m too young to have kids!” Then I had to laugh because I realized that I was 28 and almost all of my friends have multiple rugrats.

ejcapulet your comment reminds me of when my husband and I were asked to play grandma and grandpa in the Christmas play last year. We don’t have kids so it’s hard to realize that we’re old enough to have grandkids but we are. But did they have to give us 8 of them?

I’m having a pre-mid-life crisis … they happen when you’re between 28-32 … when you realize your just about ‘over the hill’.

Irving has been using Rogaine for about 20 years now. They introduced that storyline way back then.

If they did real-time aging on this strip, Irving would be over 50 now. And so would Cathy.

Sorry Irving, but this is a full-blown mid-life crisis. Just wait till you have kids! They’re good at making you feel old!

Anybody remember a movie (late sixties) that was about just that thing? Don’t trust anyone over 30? In the movie, the under 30 crowd rounded up all the OVER 30 people, put them in concentration camps, gave them drugs so that they would be happy there, and then the younger ones ruled the country. I had the soundtrack at one time.

doctortoon: Know exactly how you felt. The only way I made it past 30 was with the knowledge that Timothy Leary turned 30 before I did!

    I’m expecting a mid-life crisis next January – I’ll be turning 60!

Granted Irving is acting a bit extreme (but this is a comic strip) however, I do fail to understand why anyone who wants to look decent when they are past 20 is considered “vain.”
