Okay, let’s do this again for the mentally slow (namely the saleslady): SHE. DOES. NOT. WANT. TO. LOOK. FLIRTY. AT. WORK. SHE. WANTS. TO. BE. TAKEN. SERIOUSLY.

So, the concept is, you can’t look good without looking like you’re fishing for a date?

That saleswoman needs to change her sales pitch. As long as they’re not ruffly, a little nip looks nice. You can look professional and be taken seriously without looking militant or masculine.

With her hips, the LAST thing she needs is a nip.

I find it disturbing that no one’s gone, “well, duh, she doesn’t; she’s married”.

At least, Cathy’s leaving the store without BUYING anything.

It’s actually called a peplum jacket, and they do make people look good, but Cathy’s waist goes the wrong way, and the peplum would just make her look like a carnival ride.

If my bod doesn’t “nip in,” my jacket sure shouldn’t.

The saleswoman has a point that being flirty without “wanting” to is actually the most appealing sort of flirty.

Trying too hard doesn’t look good on anybody. Women don’t like pushy, calculating men - and men don’t give much appreciation to the effort women spend on clothes shopping, make-up shopping, and other stuff that’s calculated to push the flirtiness.

If everybody feels pretty much the same, why do the sexes have such a disconnect understanding one another?

Does she still even HAVE a JOB????

I know these are exaggerated but the only thing flirty that I can predict with the jackets in this comic are the boobs that will be hyper-protruding. Not office attire.
