Yes, it is not selfish to think of buying a “gift” for yourself, Cathy! And, besides, you made that sales associate’s day! It has been cold here today (cold for me, anyway!). No Christmas shopping for me! However, I did have to do some grocery shopping…and managed to have enough time to have a “Subway” sandwich. I suppose you can say that was my gift to me! LOL! Its Wednesday…22 more days until Christmas! ;)

Upsellng and Alterselling – hated that about working retail, especially when the secret shoppers would write up anyone for not suggesting alternatives for the same item [“It will keep you warm. Okay, you have a fire place, but what about the dog chained up in the backyard? Good for you bringing her in every night. What about your neighbor’s dog who has nothing but a dog house in this weather?” Meanwhile, I am trying to convince her that “Firetruck Red” is NOT a good lip color for her. Happy to be out of that rat maze. Oy.

I rarely ever buy Christmas presents for myself but my birthday is an entirely different matter altogether! That’s when I like to splurge a little bit and treat myself to something special that I’ve most likely been coveting for a while but have put off spending the money on [usually cross stitch-related — but not always]. I didn’t get myself anything a couple of days ago, however, as I had already bought that certain something special I had been wanting in advance about 6 months or so ago when the opportunity arose at a really great discounted price [and, yes, it was cross stitch-related . . . just in case you were wondering!!!].

Too costly and too ridiculous, Cathy. Glad you got something you really wanted for your birthday, Mom!!

I swear—before reading today’s comic, I said to myself, “Eye-roll time”. Then, lo and behold …
(And for the record, that’s why I keep coming back here.)
HI, MOM. Hello, “Cathy” Clan.
