She used the ref., then deducted for a MALE who got the reference? Much like everything else in this strip, I’m cryin’ foul. Straight up stupid.

She’s intolerable, and he’s a loser. Who are we supposed to care about here?

Hey Joe-Allen, why do you think Joe and Victoria haven’t dated? The 14 Feb 2008 strip, for instance, certainly looks like they’re on a date to me.

I agree with Jmd4isu. There more acceptable women who are not out to dismantle who you are. Joe raised his kids, he more than mature enough for some picky woman like Victoria. Anyways, there properly going be nice little war between her and Joe’s daughters if joe survives this stupid pre-test of his.

Wiley, ignore those who complain about the star trek reference - I think it was a BRILLIANT twist! Well played on Victoria’s part.

And if it were a Doctor Who reference, he would have lost double points (at least in the US, where Star Trek is definitely more mainstream, unfortunate as that might be).

Joe was dating someone (I don’t remember names) & thought it was just friendship. She got tired of waiting and left town. Her cousin came to run her shop and Joe was interested in her for a while (variety is the spice of life, according to men). I think Victoria is the first one. And the girls were in favor of the match.

I’m a gal and I got it. What’s the problem. It’s when you use a really obscure quote and that person knows the episode, season, year as well as character who said it, to whom, in what situation and what the next line is; then he (or she) should get points deducted for being “geeky”. Just becareful, you might need to a job from that “geek” someday.

Same here. I’m female (I haven’t been a ‘girl’ for a VERY long time) and when I was a kid, my whole family watched the original Star Trek series… and we all went to the first few movies together as well. Star Trek was one of my Mom’s favorite shows.

Wow! A 4 panel strip results in a full page of “ditch that girl, Joe!” (you guys do realise this is a comic, right?) and a page of “it’s life Jim, but not as we know it”. What power you wield with your pen, Wiley! I don’t think there was this much discussion in my English class when we studied Shakespeare. :P
