That sure puts an interesting perspective to what could you do in the middle of an important business conversation.

I like Rat’s response’s to a conversation.

I’m completely with rat on this. It is the reason I’m reclusive. I can’t stand the pressure of trying to do the whole conventional thing. Doing so makes me feel like I’m acting on a stage.

“Reflective listening” they called it in the 70s. I have learned that you can spread a handful of attention over your face, make all the right noises…and still tune out.

Even the Italians would think that’s overdoing it.

“Glonk” is good. I’ll see if I can work it into a conversation.

Rat has gone over the edge. The little men in white coats may be looking for him even now…. I guess I sorta had it in the back of my mind that this might happen some day. Poor Cartoon-Boy, losing his alter ego losing it.

It’s OK for Rat to do that. He’s an artist.

Rat looks cute in the 3rd Panel for some reason.

When I’m really tired and can’t be bothered to speak I say ‘Uh-huh’ and ‘Mmmm’

3 second segments of international folk dances work for me just fine. You’d be amazed at people’s response to a couple of Polka moves followed by Watusi Fertility dance.

At first glance, Rat looks like he reconfigured his body parts in the last panel.

I always thought that breakdancing was the way to respond.

Yep. There’s no reason to follow conventions at all! So, Rat, next time someone asks you if you want a bullet in the brain, say Yes! See how that goes for you.

I know from experience that living with people who don’t make supportive noises during conversation can be a letdown. However, non-supportive is Rat’s strong suit.Maybe a distant cousin to this topic is How to Slough Off Bores. If I want to get out of a protracted conversation, I don’t stand on my head while balancing coffee. Instead, I start waxing eleoquent on my hobby of memorizing names of counties in the US. Stultifying!
