Hello, it’s called HUMOR for a reason… sometimes tasteless is part of the package. But thanks for the education… until now, I’ve never have matched neurofibromatosis with The Elephant Man… which is something you shouldn’t have wanted, if you do have NF, so now your offen-sensitivity has perpetuated a stereotype you find personally offensive. Congrats!
Many cartoons are often “tasteless” to someone, or “offensive” in some way to others…I would suggest, when upset by a particular strip, moving on to another and forgetting the “you need to apologize for this” type of screed.Should a cartoonist spend all his/her time apologizing to anyone who might be offended by any particular comic? As the internet has proven over and over, there will ALWAYS be someone upset about something.
I learned long ago that you shouldn’t laugh at others until you can laugh at yourself. Similarly: we have no right to share others peoples good times unless we can share their bad times. A very good friend of mine has MS and can easily make jokes at his own expense.
I believe it was Mark Twain who was credited with saying, “If you live your life in such a way that no one could possibly be offended by anything you do, you will not do much.”

I agree that this comic is in poor taste but Joseph Merrick suffered from Proteus syndrome not NF.

Not really. There have been other comics that have been in questionable taste, yet I just move on.
