There was a Peanuts cartoon years ago in which Charlie Brown and Sally have just washed their hands for dinner. Then Charlie Brown stoops down to give Snoopy a pat on the head, at which point Sally says, “And you have to wash your hands again because you touched the dog!” Snoopy’s ears stand straight up and he thinks, “Touched the dog? Touched the dog!?! Good grief!”, and he begins to chase Sally around the house, thinking, “Here comes the bearer of filth and pestilence! Here comes the walking bubonic plague! Stay away from me!”
we have a Tortuous Shell cat (black and red), we rescued when a neighbor moved-and wouldn’t let her son take his kitty (the mother just put the cat outside). we call her Cuddles-and she BEGS for belly rubs, and purrs up a storm when receiving one.
If he tries that with Muffin he should remember Calvin’s warning about Hobbs in that position…“I got to remember that when he’s like that five of his six ends are pointy!”
“when both ends of a dog smell the same, don’t let ’em lick you” our ol’ family doc told us and then sent us home with a load of sulfa pills for me to take.. blaeahhh !! p-tuey!

My big beautiful Maine Coon kitty walks ahead of me and then bellyflops on the floor. She adores belly rubs.

Don’t feel bad, doggie. I have to wash my hands after I’ve been rubbing people too.

You can catch a lot of things from dogs! Wash your hands and never let them lick your face.
