that is SO Sweet! tears of joy and gratitude. He has found his Trudy and feels loved again! Maybe she looks similar to his Trudy.Linda looks worried in the end, Like what must she do, keep making him cakes? He is old, so maybe he will die in his sleep a happy man!Or maybe Linda is afraid to fall in love with this old feller.

I really wanted to taste it!! It had to be good because of all the attention and yeah,,,, love put in it. Linda is a full and valuable member of End Town. I think we all accept her as one of the best. Had disagreement with my MD. He saw me last last night and called an ambulance and sent me to ER where whey checked me for 1)heart attact.. no, 2) conjestive heart… no3)blood clot… no 4) ulcer… Bingo. So now I am on a really bland diet. No chocolate cake for me. Boo Hiss. He never listens to ME…. My original diagnosis of PhenomFibrose he ignored my protestings until I told him my father had died of it. Another Boo Hiss. Don’t fuss. I am fine!!!Blessed Be

And now the other waitress is going to ask where she got the ingredients. This is either the start of a food fight for Endtown or a legal fight for Linda…

FINALLY! Linda’s finally opened her eyes. She sees Endtowners as people instead of monstrous diseased creatures, and done something sweet for an old man she hardly knows. From the look on her face, I’d say that she’s had a tough life topside, and no one’s actually told her she matters much to them, except her son. Hopper’s gratitude is a new experience for her.—— I think Holly’s in for a pleasant surprise..the old Topsider Linda has vanished, and in her place is a sweet, kind, caring person.

Excellent way to end the week. Can’t wait for. . .as Paul Harvey used to say, " And now, the rest of the story." Really want to see what’s behind Mr. Hopper, Trudy, the cake and LInda’s future roll in all of it.

Thinking about it, I think she recognized a kindred spirit…she’s recently lost everything, and she found someone else who’s also lost everything.

So happy for this outcome — Aaron, you have a real gift for making us care about these characters!

(I still want to know if it’s a good cake though. It’s the baker in me, I guess!)

Hopper may not have been looking for THE Trudy, but A Trudy. Like Diogenes looking for an honest man, he was searching for someone with the determination and ingenuity and desire to accomplish a seemingly impossible task. Endtown needs people who can use their imagination to fix its ongoing problems, and the empathy to do it for others if not for themselves.

DOL agree about h pylori bacteria. Many doctors don’t yet know about it. Ulcers are caused by bacteria, and can be permanently prevented by eating certain vegetables.

I have over the past couple of days gone back to the beginning (2009 I believe) and read all of Endtown. I have never done that for any comic ever.

Endtown is officially my favorite comic.

Just a side observation.Isn’t chocolate bad for dogs?

Tootsie rolls are not chocolate. They are chocolate flavored and do contain some cocoa. But they are a chocolate flavored taffy.

Now whether there is enough cocoa to affect a human sized dog? Or even if they would give a good flavor to the cake?

But that cake is love, and ink/pixels so does not matter.

    Great story.

I just thought of something. What if Mr. Hopper isn’t the one with the problem? What if Trudy was someone who had Alzheimer’s, and what’s so important to him is that she remembers about the cake…

Hey Aaron, hang in there and trust that this is temporary. Maybe you will never have this happen again and let it be! You are so gifted, and knowing when you have “got it” and that it’s RIGHT and that you can do more things that you knew you could!

Mr. Hopper is a human with dog features, so chocolate is not necessarily poisonous to him. The cake may also have chocolate coins in it, not just Tootsie Rolls. If he does have a reaction to chocolate, that will be more drama for the story, as Linda has to deal with almost (or actually) killing someone with kindness.
