It’s still refreshing that Schulz quoted from scripture. Of course, that was back in the day. Try that now, and newspaper editors would all refuse to print the strip because it’s “offensive.”
You’re confusing “religion” with “Pure Religion” as described in James 1:27 “to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” Unfortunatley for the world, religion and the human condition are often at odds with one another with human foibles often ccircumventing “pure” religion.
It is MAN that ruins things, not religion. Mankind has a tendency to take anything intended for good (government, religion, money, sex, food, etc.) and use it for self-serving purposes. might as well swear off belonging to the human race. Look in the mirror if you want to see the source of the evil heart.
You can’t have organized prayer in school. There are too many differences in beliefs. What if the version being led doesn’t agree with your own? It is the parents duty not the schools to see to the spiritual education of the children.
Looks like poor Charlie was like me as a youngster.
I used to defend the religion I was brainwashed into believing (lds), until logic, reason & science proved that all religions are superstitious garbage that do far more to hurt us than help us.
I also want to say why should the logical and reasonable among us shut up and leave the site to you that are still brainwashed?
You’re entitled to your opinion. However, in my opinion, you are incorrect. It is neither the existence of, nor the practice of faith that is the root of evil – It is the deeply flawed nature of man himself (an’ herself) that gets us to the true root of all evil. Faith seeks to help guide man away from the path of evil – but man’s inherent weaknesses and flaws keep him/her on the path of evil and self-destruction.
Religion, or the practice of faith and belief in some power greater than oneself began with very early man. Man’s mistake was to move from faith in a power greater than himself to belief that there was NO power greater than man. The loss of humility and the turning of man’s collective back on God has let man to the true root of all evil: Godlessness.

True religion will make the world a much better place. The problem is there are many false religions out there.

Actually I think that would be Psalm 22.

There is nothing wrong with religion if you believe in God.

Try to tell that to citizens who lived under Stalin, Pol Pot, or Mao Tse Tung.

Tell that to the Christians who give of their time and money to help those less fortunate.

More likely, it’s not the religion, it’s the morons who “interpret” it that are the problem!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though I am an atheist, I find your statement far too extreme. Militant atheism is just as bad as militant religiousness.
