Cathy: I will never weigh myself again! The numbers on the scale are irrelevant!! Hah! AACK! Too tight!! I've gained four and a half pounds! AACK!! We can ban the bathroom scale, but we'll never get rid of the blue jean scale.
I’ve used the “blue jean scale” for many years until I bought a scale last year. They’re both decent measures of how things are going, although I need to remember that muscle weighs more than fat.Hello Cathy family!! Where is everyone? p.s. It was nice to have a Sunday strip yesterday – thanks rgcviper!
When blue jeans are fresh out of the dryer, I like to bend, sit, crouch, wiggle, etc., to stretch them before trying to button. That way panic doesn’t set in.Hello to lightenup, ncalifgirl58, summerdog and the rest of the Clan yet to come. Have a great week!
A time-honored euphemism for gaining weight among the men I have known over the years is the statement, “ALL of my jeans shrank in the dryer!” ;→ Personally, when I don’t step on a scale for, oh, let’s say a month or so, my blue jean scale is a painfully immediate reality check for weight gain. Unrelenting pain from lumbosacral probs and arthritis in both knees reduced my usually high activity level and 20 lbs. jumped me while I wasn’t looking. Consequently, I was forced to adjust to a higher blue jean scale – but I refuse to make any further adjustments unless they are downward!!
As usual, thanks to my weakness for all things sweet and fattening over the holidays, I’m back in my more comfortable (if not discouraging) blue jean “fat pants” these days but I’m hoping that, due to my newest New Year’s diet, that won’t last too much longer and I can put my skinnier blue jeans back on again soon.
Hi, rgcviper!
Hello and Happy Monday to all my “Cathy” clan friends. Hope everyone had a really nice weekend!
I must admit that I haven’t worn jeans for years – I never found them comfortable, even in my younger, slim days. I preferred wearing skirts on most occasions – long, floaty “hippy” type garments.
@lightenup from yesterdayThanks for the info on the Halloween profiles of Aaron and Billy. I’m still holding out hope that they’re OK, and will return here soon. I really miss them.

When you need to lay back flat on your back to use the BJS, it’s NEVER a good sign!

But perhaps I’m just giving my age away!

In panel 3 she appears to be a lot fatter. Or is that just exaggerating?

Hi Cathyites!! I too thought she gained more like 400 lbs from panel 2 to panel 3 and then lost it again by panel 4.

Maybe she’s just sucking in her breath while she’s wearing the robe? Hey—you never know.
@lightenupYou bet. Not sure if my e-mail to GoComics made it happen, but I like to think it helped.
HI, MOM. Hello to the nutty Clan.
