(Holds head in hand and shakes it…) Cathy, your mother seriously needs to get on with her life, sans her prying obliquely on the phone… ;)

I’m rather surprised that Cathy didn’t join in with her mother’s line of thinking and freak out. That is more a “Cathy” thing to do.

Waiting for the guy to call is a waste of time. Better find something else to do.

Why should Irving be the only one to do all the calling? If Cathy wants to see or talk to him and he’s not doing it often enough to suit her taste, then maybe she needs to be the one to make the next move. You never know. He might just be sitting around the house waiting for her to call him for a change!!!!! ;-)
Hi, rgcviper!
Hello and Happy Monday, fellow “Cathy” fans. Hope everyone had a really great weekend and a very nice day today, too.

What year did “The Rules” come out? Cathy seems to have taken that book as her relationship Bible, especially the part about how the woman is NEVER supposed to take the initiative in the relationship. The idea is that if he’s not willing to put in the effort to pursue her properly, he’s not the one, and it’s unseemly for her to pursue him because men don’t actually like to be pursued (sadly, there’s some truth to that last one!).

Long long ago a girl did not wait for me to call but called me. The end result of that call? We have been married for over 37 years now. Never could figure out why girls were not supposed to call boys! lightenup – the advice given earlier to take the time to see your mother is good. Too many people regret not taking the time to visit parents or friends when they are no longer able to visit them – ever.

Yes sadly, there was a time when a woman calling a man would have been the kiss of death to the relationship — but it wasn’t during the time of this comic.
