Wow, is this because they’re overdoing it on this wedding or because their savings plans are meager or both?A wedding does not need to be extravagant. Spend what you can afford, or even less. The parts you will remember are not the parts that cost money. You will remember the time with your loved ones and the loving feelings you have, not what appetizers you had or what color your flowers were..Hello Cathy friends! It’s supposed to go up to 102 here today
ouch! Thankfully we have AC, but many don’t here.Loved the dog/cat pics you posted yesterday on FBOFW, sis! So adorable!! Animals are great. :-)

If daughter dear has a successful career and life when she gets married for the first time, she can finance it herself.

Normal parents of a woman Cathy’s age probably wouldn’t be chipping in any kind of money at all for a wedding . . . so these two should count themselves lucky they were getting $10,000.00 from her parents to begin with. But to then come back with their hands out and greedily expect $18,000.00 more from them? Un-freakin’-believable!!!!! If that were me, I’d withdraw the entire offer and tell my daughter and her fiancĂ© that they’re both working adults who live on their own and if they want some big, fat, fancy, expensive wedding that $10,000.00 won’t even begin to cover, then they need to come up with the entire amount on their own somewhere else because the “Bank Of Mom And Dad” is now officially closed! But because this is Cathy we’re talking about, I’m sure her parents will somehow cough up the rest of the money they want because she and Irving “need” it in order to pay for their upcoming (out-of-control) wedding. After all, how can they possibly say no to that?!? :-(

In my opinion, people these days probably wouldn’t have such a sense of entitlement about themselves if only they had heard the word “NO!” every now and then from their parents while they were growing up instead of being raised to believe that the sun rises and sets on them and that the world owes them everything they want, whenever they want it — no questions asked, no explan-ations required. Sorry about the rant but as you can probably tell, I’m NOT a huge fan of the way people are raising their kids these days!!!!! :-P

Wow, I missed some interesting comments in the last few days. We were off to Fredericton, New Brunswick (Canada) to watch my younger daughter receive her Masters Degree. Proud parents spent the whole ceremony rather weepy eyed. Managed to stretch the visit ‘down east’ for a couple of days and did some sight-seeing. GretchensMom I agree with your opinion of some kids’ parents. Fortunately there are some good kids out there so there is hope for the future (I think).
