Bringing in a memory: Whenever my parents had a big to-do at their house my mother would always set up the dining room in a certain way, with the table against the wall, and the food set up buffet-style. My husband learned exactly how she liked it so he would go in to help. They wouldn’t talk; she’d just hand him things and he’d place them. One time my sister’s husband came in to help and my mother kicked him out of the room.
Yep. I can just see it all now. This old bitty won’t allow Cathy to do a thing to help prepare dinner because she’s got her own “system” but as soon as Thanksgiving is over and they go home, the M-I-L from Hell will tell all her friends afterwards how she had to prepare the whole meal ALL BY HERSELF because her lazy, selfish D-I-L wouldn’t lift a single finger to help her do anything! Poor Cathy. No matter how hard she tries, there will never ever be any pleasing this old bat that she’s now stuck with for life because she didn’t have enough sense to turn down “Prince” Irving when he proposed! :-/

Hi, rgcviper!
lightenup: Hope your’re having a great time visiting your mother, sister and her family! :-)

Hello and Happy Wednesday, fellow Cathy fans. Hope everyone had a really nice day today! :-)
Ugh. I HATE agreeing with Irving’s mother about anything! But I have my holiday dinners down to an exact science, so I get where she’s coming from. People think they’re helping, but they screw up my system. (Plus, yes I AM a control freak and you’re probably peeling the potatoes wrong. L) However, I would NEVER complain about not having any help because I know I could, and I just don’t want it.

Of course, if Cathy goes into the living room to watch TV, her MIL will gripe how no one helps her.

And then she will complain that Cathy never helps in the kitchen.
