Transcript:
Cathy: Dad always took care of our whole yard by himself when I was growing up! Irving: Whew! What was it like to haul that kind of free time on the weekend?? Cathy: He also took care of all the plumbing, painting, grouting and re-wiring! Irving: Life was simpler then! Cathy: We also took care of the cars, finances, insurance and plane tickets! Irving: A classic! No time for the humans! Cathy: He also took care of Mom, me, an office full of people, the neighbors and any strangers who needed help! Irving: Your dad did not have the kind of stress I live with every day! He didn't have to try to live up to a guy like him!! Dad: Whew! Don't get me started on everything MY dad used to do!

It’s funny. I married a man who has many of the same qualities as my father, including integrity, honesty, a wicked sense of humor, and not very talkative…who both are also fantastic fathers.

I cannot agree with Irving in panel 7 – Cathy’s dad has had to put up with Cathy’s mom and that has to be stressful. I will admit Cathy’s dad does seem to cope with his crazy family quite well.
Got to finish setting up the irrigation pump today. The promised rain did not arrive and the grass is starting to get brown in spots. According to my wife brown is not an acceptable colour for grass. Happy Sunday to everyone in the Cathy Clan.

Yes, Happy Father’s Day…a day late because I didn’t have a computer yesterday….
