Seems to me that Cathy and Irving let the dogs on the couch all the time!

They can’t control the dogs, how will they ever control Irving’s parents? Start with, “Mom, Dad, you are not allowed on that couch!”.

Oh Cathy, Irving finally stood up to his mother and you took her side!!!

Ugh this one really gets on my nerves! The in-laws are not in their own home, yet they are damaging everything about it. When my kids were young, it would be annoying when people would deliberately do the opposite of what I would say is how we do things. Sure, I get that sometimes doing different things is fine, but when it gets to the point where it will take a lot of effort to undo what others are doing, then they need to stop!

God help Irving if he & Cathy ever had a child.

With Cathy taking her in-laws side on this one, she has lost the right to complain about them. This was her one chance and she blew it.

Based on Cathy’s angry expression in panel #2 as she watches her husband go completely bat-sh*t crazy over the dogs not being allowed on “that couch” and only having “one master,” I wouldn’t say she’s taking her nutty M-I’L’s side so much as she’s siding with her sweet little fur-babies instead (as well she should, I might add, because he probably WAS scaring them with his loud voice and angry arm gestures)! :-/

But honestly, unless there are two couches — one the dogs are allowed on, and one they aren’t because of dirt and dog hair issues and they were most definitely being allowed on the wrong couch — I don’t think this is really even about that at all. Well, not totally anyhow. His parents barged into their home and lives unwanted and uninvited on April 28th — eight weeks ago yesterday — and I think their rude, overbearing, condescending, and entitled attitudes ever since they got there has stressed poor Irving out to the point where his mother’s complete defiance of his authority in his own home just now was the last straw, causing him to snap. Maybe he’s tolerated his insufferable parents all he’s going to and is finally ready to tell them that it’s time for them to “GO HOME NOW!”? We can only hope! :-P
