Her: Cathy: Ommm... Him: Irving: Ummm....Bye, honey. I need to get a little "me time". Cathy: "Me time"?? Irving: Just a little self-pampering. Some inner balancing. Cathy: Pampering and balancing? Irving: I'm finally giving myself permission to let go of all the negative self-image stuff that blocks my ability to experience real closeness. Cathy: Excuse me?? Irving: If I'm in a better place about ME, I can be more emotionally available to YOU and share on a deeper level. I guess what I'm trying to say is... Cathy: YOU'RE SNEAKING OFF TO PLAY GOLD ALL WEEKEND INSTEAD OF CLEANING THE GARAGE WITH ME!! John (voice on phone): Canceling again? Irving: Sorry, John. I learned to speak the "girl" language. Can't seem to lose the "boy" accent.

My husband & I always celebrate Labor Day Weekend together. Our ACTUAL anniversary is 9/3, but we always celebrate it over the whole holiday weekend. This year marks 35 years.

Great plan. Poor execution. Get your gloves on butter cup.

So because Cathy doesn’t have any hobbies besides shopping and complaining, Irving doesn’t get to have any?

A mature solution would be to have a discussion and agree that Irving will spend a day playing golf or even the 3 day weekend and then spend a day helping Cathy clean the garage. The key word here is mature. When has either one ever shown a speck of maturity???

Anyone remember when Cathy tried golf at Irving’s suggestion? She was a natural born player! But she hated it and always will.

His approach was all wrong. A real man would just say, “Honey, I’m going golfing with friends today. Bye!”. He’d invite her to come along and watch, but he’d know she wouldn’t even consider it. Who would do a heavy duty, filthy job like cleaning out the garage on a holiday weekend?

Oh, give me a break! Sorry, Irving, but you own at least half the stuff in that garage so, no, you’re not allowed to weasel out of helping Cathy clean it while you go out to play golf and drink beer all day with your buddies, leaving her to tackle what’s probably a very massive project on her own. Get this job done today, then you can golf as much as you want to next weekend with your wife’s full-on blessing ….. and you wouldn’t even have to make up lame excuses about how you could be “more emotionally available for her on a deeper level” if you’re “in a better place about yourself” in order to do it either!

Hi, rgcviper! :-)
.
Hello and Happy Sunday, fellow Cathy fans. For all those that celebrate it, I hope you’ve been having a really great Labor/Labour Day weekend so far. Stay safe and well, everyone! ♥

Yeah … seems to me like Irving would have enough time to golf one round, and still help Cathy with the garage. But, that would be way too logical, now, wouldn’t it?
HI, MOM. Happy Sunday, “Cathy” Clan.

It is too early to clean out the garage. The plan should be to clean it just before it is time to start parking the car inside. If you clean it this weekend you will only have to do it over again in a couple of months or the car won’t fit. (Speaking from experience).
It is a beautiful Sunday – especially since tomorrow is a holiday! I hope you are enjoying the weekend.

Don’t make commitments you don’t plan to keep.

It’s entries like this that make me wish Cathy Guisewite hadn’t retired the strip. Fortunately there’s still a lot of entries I haven’t seen.
