The biggest problem is that Irving really doesn’t care what she wears. I’ve found that most guys really don’t pay that much attention to clothes—especially to shoes, which seems to be Cathy’s biggest concern.
mistercatworks may be right but, evidently, when a woman wears the same outfit to work two days in a row it can cause the other women in the office to speculate as to why she did not get home to change before coming to work the next day. The men, as has been pointed out here, probably would not notice.
Speaking of outfits, I don’t were the real Cathy lives, but I once saw a woman that looks EXACTLY like and dresses JUST like Cathy in her business suit, standing on a sidewalk in downtown Seattle once. Did a double-take and then had to stare for a minute. If I hadn’t been driving I probably would have walked up and asked her if she was the author of this strip.

Even Cathy must know she can just set the outfit aside and wear it the next day.

Change the blouse and the shoes for tomorrow, and you are good to go. But she never takes the easy way out of anything.
