Do men really antagonize over office wear like this? Irving has been shown before to be pretty contemptuous about clothes and fussing over what to wear.
I agree with lightenup. Just wear khakis and a collard shirt and that will be more than good enough casual wear for the office. If by “leader” that means you’re a supervisor, then the best way to do that is by example. If you wear clothing like that every day, then eventually everyone else will too because they’ll want to be more (casually) professional-looking like you. Leave things like Hawaiian shirts and flip-flops for a special “Hawaiian Shirt Day” where clothing like that would be completely acceptable for everyone to wear ….. unless you work at Initech, then watch out for Milton Waddams who may (or may not) burn the building down to the ground before then. As long as you don’t deny him a piece of birthday cake, put his desk in the basement with the cockroaches, cut off his paycheck and then, to add insult to injury, steal his red Swingline stapler, you probably won’t have anything to worry about! ;-)
P.S.: Sorry. I just watched “Office Space” recently and I couldn’t help but to tailor my comment towards that movie due to Irving’s Hawaiian shirt reference. On second thought, NOT sorry. I love that movie. It’s positively hysterical! :-D

Hi, rgcviper! :-)
.
Hello and Happy Tuesday, fellow Cathy fans. Hope you all have/had a really nice day today! ♥
All the time I worked in offices I wore the same basic thing – dress pants and collared shirt – even on casual days. I was comfortable and looked reasonably professional. The only time I wore a tie to work is when I was teaching and that many decades ago.
I’m with the “dress pants and a collared shirt” crowd here. That’s been my standard apparel for pretty much all my jobs so far. (Jeans on Friday are nice, though.) However, leave it to Irving to instigate this nonstop cycle of clothing mismatches. AACK.

It doesn’t matter what you wear as long as you wear it with authority. So they say. My boss in a bikini is a distraction. He should shave for that.

Where does he work? Bike shorts? No thanks.

Yup, he’s a leader all right. A leader in cluelessness. This here is why most just choose the moderate route and wear khakis and a collared shirt.
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Tuesday! Have a great day, all!
