Danae: Excuuuuse me... Joe: Sigh... What now, Danae? Danae: Why didn't you tell me about you and Victoria? Joe: I did... last week. Danae: Oh... um... what was I doing at the time? Joe: Watching television. Danae: That's what you were babbling on about while I was watching "Jersey Shore"?!! Joe: Yeah... you'd think I'd have a better grip on priorities by now, wouldn't you.

Who watches jersey shore?
jo_c_fus almost 15 years ago
Evidently Danae does.
debra4life50 almost 15 years ago
Wasn’t there a time when Danae and Kate were doing some major matchmaking with their dad and Victoria? Or was that Victoria’s cousin? Sounds like Victoria has more than a little Danae in her - they should get along just fine.

Joe can marry that ? and the girls will be gone in a week, doing the stroll some where… just bad luck….

I’m what Ben David. What is “Jersey Shore” ? (not that I’ll watch It, it’s just that I don’t like to run over to Wikipedia every time there’s sometihng I don’t know!)
morrishagerman almost 15 years ago
Of course no one will say they watch Jersey Shore, but the ratings are great. Go figure…

Reality TV takes over yet again… When will THAT be over I wonder? All they’re proving is that stupidity pays, and being intelligent doesn’t. Depressing honestly…

I believe that the sole reason reality tv shows should stay on is so that Joel McHale keeps being brilliant. ‘The Soup’ is my only real exposure to popular tv shows anymore, and a half-hour of clips is about all that I care to watch.

Looks like this household should join the Society for the Eradication of Television. They have an Interesting web site, some if it dealing with TV’s bad influence on children.

Note to self. Turn TV off before making major announcements.

Okay, so “Jersey Shore” is a reality show?
Now I’m wondering: Who Joel McHale? What is “The Soup”? Who should join the Society for the Eradication of Television? What is the Society for the Eradication of Television?
Oh, it’s all gotten so complicated!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, dad should know the priorities. When I watch one of my shows on television, I only talk to someone long enough to tell them to wait until after the show. (My television doesn’t have rewind or pause.)

I’m with Plus4. Brenda was much nicer.

Ok, you folks know that this is a comic strip, not a documentary, right?
Something you need to keep in mind is that all storytelling, as well as humor, in order to be compelling needs one vital ingredient… conflict. So stay ‘tooned.
rdclark53217 almost 15 years ago
I remain unconvinced that Victoria is not Brenda. Brenda leaves for vacation in Vegas in part because Joe just refuses to see her “that way”. A more made up woman, looking to me an awful lot like Brenda, shows up at the clam shack. She stays. Brenda never returns. Hmmm…
Now I know in reality, you’d see through that almost immediately. But then, horses don’t talk, nor do they fit into bed with little girls, so if you’re going to pick a nit, don’t do it on the basis of “reality”, thank you very much.

I bet Cap’n Eddie has a tale about the Jersey shore…

Yes Wiley I know it is a comic strip and my favorite. Keep up the great stories.

sorta like sticking the bad news in with a bunch of reports and hoping the boss doesn’t notice?

Isn’t Jersey Shore another abominable series on MTV (which Danae isn’t old enough to be allowed to watch, by the way)? Lord, I miss the old days of the music videos!
halavana almost 15 years ago
I’m with rdclark53217: Brenda is Victoria, only with make-up, Marilyn Monroe hair and an underwire bra.

Wiley
It is a comic - it is funny - and I love it
Keep up the good work
Trebor39 almost 15 years ago
Wiley, you are correct. This is a comic strip that tells many stories and I will keep on enjoying them.

Come on, people - Jersey Shore is the grand-daughter of singer - TV host Dinah Shore, and one of the most promising tap-dancing jugglers in America today!
Why, I’ll never forget the time I saw her juggling two bowling balls and a meat cleaver while tapping to “The Flight of the Bumble-Bee.”
And when the cleaver went flying into the audience – well, as I said, I’ll never forget that time…

Never try to tell Danae something, period!
sablebrush5 almost 15 years ago
Am I alone in this?… I find multiple-panel NonSequiturs boring, but single-panel NonSequiturs funny and interesting. Why is that? The whole Danae bit is just run-of-the-mill, average stuff done a million times by other cartoonists, but the single panel stuff sings.
Reddheadd almost 15 years ago
Wiley - thanks for checking in and commenting! I really enjoy Danae, and this story line is very interesting. Can’t wait to see what happens.
DarthSequitur almost 15 years ago
Just a suggestion folks - and I fully expect to be flamed for it by some of you - forget about fitting the comic strip into your world view, and instead try to fit yourself into the world of the comic strip - and be ready to laugh at yourself in the bargain. It’s a heck of a lot more fun.

Sorry Sablebrush, Danae wins hands down every time!!
g.iangoodson almost 15 years ago
Wiley, we’re not thick. I really thought it was documentary….
The point is that in Brenda you created a more attractive character than Victoria. Your responsibility, after all it’s your world.
