Reince Priebus: So to improve our messaging, we've decided to recruit a GOP Celebrity Task Force! Sid: Uh-huh. Okay, couple problems I see with that, Reince. First, there aren't any A-list celebrities who support the GOP. Your second problem is there also aren't any B-list celebrities who support the party! Reince Priebus: How about the C-list? Sid: That I'd have to check on. Trump may hold all the rights.

Would have thought Ted Nugent would have already organized one of these things. That should make a total membership quota of … one.

People with careers in entertainment often get an education in the exact goings on in corporations by getting totally screwed. When that’s part of paying your dues being conservative is seldom the ultimate outcome.

I can name a few Hollywood conservatives or GOP supporters:Kelsey Grammar Vince VaughnAdam SandlerRobert DuvallThen there is angry old white man club:Jon VoightCraig T NelsonPeter FondaJames CaanI did not put Robert Duvall in the angry old white man club because he has always been a Republican. The others turn to conservatism was accompanied with senility and incontinence.

He is on the BSC list (bat s_ _ _. crazy). After the election, he claimed that money from red states went to support blue states. Nine of the ten states that receive more funds from the Federal government than pay in federal taxes voted for Romney, while the 9 of 10 states that pay more in Federal tax dollars than receive in Federal funds voted for Obama. Those facts don’t matter to Miller.

I stand corrected , 8 of the 10 states receiving most Federal benefits voted for Romney. The exceptions being New Mexico and Virginia. The 10 states paying most to the Federal government and receiving the least in return all voted for Obama. On November 7, 2012 Dennis Miller tweeted the following:-Look at all the red on the electoral map last night. That red’s paying for all that blue.-The man lives in his own reality.

Maybe not flat broke, but living a little lower on the hog. How many could invest half their earnings in social responsibility and still be wealthy?

Boy, I’m going to get beat up for this observation. Oh well, here goes..Look at all of you. Republican/Democrat, Red vs Blue State, Conservate vs Liberal vs far right vs far left, ad nauseum. Look at yourselves! You’re all pissing around with the symptoms and totally missing the disease. .There are bigger problems with our system of government. It would appear that Thomas Jefferson was prescient when he was writing about how to keep Democracy from getting stale. I have personally been told by people working in DC, that quoting Jefferson is considered a seditious act by some of our elected representatives..Look at where we are. We have made a mockery of the ideals written into our constitution..We live in an oligarchy. Look it up, if you don’t know the word. And if you agree with that, than quit throwing fecal matter at each other, like a bunch of angry monkeys and start a dialogue in this country to figure out what in the hell we can do about it.

don’t forget the guy with the b-ball hat who tries to peddle Fords. He showed up at one of Romney’s Fascist rallies last year with his hat on, so everybody could recognize his celebrity status

troll are much better than politicians, lol. and that’s bad. like cutting Social Security. actions speak louder than words
a return to feudalism is what the Republican/Democratic party is all about. and it seems to be working rather quickly.

So we get Ted, Clint and Donald all in one room together? That would definitely corner the market on Crazy.

Feudalism is a perfectly acceptable economic system. It had served humanity well for many thousands of years and was endorsed by most of the worlds major religions. Socialism has failed whenever it has been tried.
magicwalnut over 11 years ago
Feudalism, I discovered, is alive and well in the workplace. The hierarchy is well defined with titles, relative power, and rewards for fealty. Why should government be any different? ( I will tug my forelock at all I meet this day.)

Thanks, macprivate. Recently I’ve been telling people that we’re living in an oligarchy.

I’ll probably get flagged for this. IMHO, the entire world would be in much better shape if we could find a way to reduce the testosterone.

Trudeau makes it sound like our top celebrities not supporting Republicans is a bad thing. I mean, aren’t they the examples we should all be following?

“Can’t you see that Jefferson is saying there is no free ride. If you want to have a truly representative government, you have to invest in it. ".I hate being a cynic; unfortunately in this era of the Internet and cable TV, some people would rather invest in a Bushmaster than in their government. .Maybe the best thing to do is let all the crazies have a run at overthrowing the government. When they lose, the rest of us could go about the business of the nation. I just hope too many people don’t have to die to water that tree.

plutocracy, corporatocracy, neofeudalism, oligarchy, You can mix them up too, like plutocratic oligarchy. I think Cornel West uses that one a lot. the words kind of roll off the tongue.

Please don’t confuse education with intelligence. They are not the same and if you need proof talk to some of the duffesess coming out of the college assembly line with a BS undergrad degree. All heavily subsidized by the fed and a promise they are super stars that will prosper even though they could not run successful Mom and Pop corner convenient store.

Wow. I rarely have so many comments to make on one thing. Here goes…
1- While GT is prone to bias, prevarication, and the like, in the 40+ years I’ve been reading him, he rarely actually lies. He did here.
2- Do you actually KNOW anyone in the entertainment industry? I do. Except for some comedians, the vast majority are just, well, not especially bright. These are people who I like, and they are fun to be around and (mostly) incredibly talented, but I would NEVER take their advice about anything but entertainment. Did you ever wonder why there are so many stories about entertainers taken advantage of by their managers? Because they don’t know that 10% of a million isn’t 350,000, that’s why. Ever wonder why so many marriages last weeks? Because it requires a few brain cells to have a relationship, that’s why. I could go on, but you’re already bored and wondering why you’ve read this far…

First of all, he did say there weren’t any A-list celebrities who were republican, not none. A-list is a subjective thing, so I still don’t think he “lied”..Second, while I don’t personally know any actors, I have listened to interviews with them and for the good ones, to really get into a role, they study the human condition and may even put themselves in the character’s situation. .Most of the ones I’ve heard come across as incredibly intelligent. They’re not just reading other people’s lines (well, maybe Reagan did), they’re thinking about what they would do in that situation. So they have empathy, and therefore don’t make good republicans.

Bo Derek, Stacy Dash, Julianne Hough, and Lindsey Lohan all supported Romney. Jennifer Lawrence might also be a Republican.

I came across a list of supposed GOP celebrities, alive and dead. They actually listed the whole cast of Bonanza. Only Michael Landon was in the GOP, buddy of Ronald Reagan. Lorne Greene was a friend and supporter of Hubert Humphrey. Lorne’s wife worked with Humphrey. Pernell Roberts was a champion of many liberal causes. Dan Blocker supported Humphrey and felt so strongly against the Vietnam war that he packed up his family and moved to Switzerland, while maintaining a home in California while he was working. So, let’s see: Little Joe, Republican, Hoss, Democrat, Ben, Democrat, and Pernell, Democrat.
montessoriteacher over 11 years ago
Sorry GOP, you can only claim 1 in 4 of the Cartwrights! This may be a fairly realistic ratio in regard to political affiliation in Hollywood.
caligula over 11 years ago
Fact is you can’t survive being a “Conservative Celebrity” because as soon as the entertainment press finds out about the Conservative part, you cease to exist.
montessoriteacher over 11 years ago
Oh, I guess Pernell played Adam. I didn’t remember the name of that one. I could barely remember all the other Cartwrights, though I am sure they live on in reruns.

@ RmacPrivate – You’re singing my song. I’ve been saying for years that unless and until something is done about the education system, it’s all smoke and mirrors. I’m not sure it’s possible to rehabilitate what we have; might be the only way to get back to education in this country is to raze the system to the ground and start over.
This country was created on a slave based economy; too many have never progressed beyond that.
Until some change in the nomination procedures comes about, nominations are controlled by the party. As long as the nominations are controlled by the fascists .. well, the public has no representation.
We need to do away with lobbying.
See you around, eh?

Red herring alert! Per usual, someone has posed a red herring argument, an attempt to distract an audience by deviating from the topic being discussed by introducing a separate argument which the speaker believes will be easier to speak to.
