Er, we’re ALL related (at least according to evolution or Christianity), and even first cousins often marry (cousincouples.com)

He’s more closely related to Kevin Bacon than to Echo. Not that he’d want to marry Kevin Bacon. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. (Hi from Philly, Kevin. I think of your city-planning father every time I go downtown.)

I think the “once removed” part means you’re safe Norman. Unless you’re also “once removed” but I think you’ve probably been removed more times than that, to the funny farm!

I’m surprised that Norman knows and can use and properly pronounce a word as long as “devastating!”

Back in 1981, much was being made of the wedding of the Prince Of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer.…What was toned down in all those events was that they were 7th Cousins, meaning that both of them were 8 generations removed from their common ancestors, which are believed to be King James I (1603-25), who was also King James VI of Scotland (1562-1625) and Anne of Denmark.

Hey Norman, you said in-law twice, husband once, and step once. You’re good.

aunt’s third husband’s son-in-law’s….. kind makes clear enough she’s likely not a blood relative.

barrycarter: Christianity and evolution are not exclusive. From Nicolas Steno (Catholic priest, stratigraphy), to Charles Lyell (Anglican deacon, geology), to his protege Charles Darwin (Anglican seminarian, natural selection), to Gregor Mendal (Catholic monk, genetics), to Robert Bakker (Pentecostal preacher, endothermic dinosaurs), Christian clergy have been at the forefront of evolutionary theory. Even my father (Methodist clergy, three upper Cretaceous discoveries) have made contributions.
