Calvin’s Dad seems to go up and down in the polls. Here is what the household 6-year-olds thought of him 7 years earlier:Click here: Calvin and Hobbes (March 18, 1986)Click here: Peanuts (October 10, 1964)Click here: Wizard of Id (July 31, 2004)
Calvin probably makes it up to try to change his dad’s mind on certain things. It’s not working, clearly. The thing is: Calvin never does a poll for his mom. She would probably refute them, that’s why.
Cigarette companies used to pass out sample packets (5) at leading colleges. An hour later, a pollster would ask students what brand they were smoking.Next month, ads in leading magazines:At a recent poll at [EggHead U], 95% of smokers were smoking [CHOKES] – the choice of professionals!
“Where do you pollsters find these respondents?”“Oh, different parts of me, I suppose; I don’t really know.”“Not to worry; I don’t give much credence to those things anyway.”

Yes, where do you find your representatives of six-year-olds?

In the case of Calvin’s poll, the ‘vast majority’ = 100% of housrhold six year olds polled!

I think statistically speaking all statistics in the world is fraud.

Nice of Dad to humor Calvin by going along with him.

A better question would be how does a six year old know what a poll is?

Wonder whether Hobbes gets to vote or not?

Hmm and I thought he was an automatic TELLer machine… he tells Calvin to wash the dishes, to clean his room, to do his homework, to go to bed….

If you want money, Calvin go get yourself a paper route. Dad is not a bank machine.

Sometimes you can get the answer you want by how you ask the questions or even how you order the questions.
Or you can do like the news media. Keep asking the same question until you get the answer you want.

I wouldn’t touch that question with a ten-feet pollster!

I totally believe in polls. Like in our last provincial election where the predicted landslide victory went to the other party!

And an astounding 100% of Household Fathers find the motivations of pollsters of Household Six-Year-Olds highly suspect.

I love Dad’s bored look in the 3rd panel.

Ads were common when the first debates on health issues were being raised:70% of doctors prefer Camels.(Did that imply that only 30% preferred women?)

Today’s poll question: How many of you read Calvin and Hobbes?

I see that some of yesterday’s political attacks have been deleted by GoComics.

If you ever get the chance, snap up a copy of How To Lie With Statistics, 1954, PB 1993. An eye-opener!

Glad to see Calvin’s dad is not a politician.
