Welcome back, Duke and Trff. Maybe you can move this moribund strip along.

Comment on last weeks strips:GBT has regularly used College Reunions as a plot device, including one where JJ shocked everyone (especially Mike) by announcing she was pregnant. The earliest reunions used to feature Mark as a Bartender, as in this set from 40 years ago: http://www.gocomics.com/doonesbury/1973/05/07 Walden pond looks the same, but there is no background at all.

The characters are illustrated in varying degrees of perspective. I can’t remember this ever being done in Doonesbury before.

Curious, the plain dealer didn’t run the first and second panels. I wonder if it was edited for space or content?

Yes, thirdguy was using satire. Very funny too. :>)I can’t believe the number of rightwingers who criticize our current prez as the worst ever— they must forget that many of us are old enough to remember someone named Richard Nixon. Unfortunately, Nixon is the first prez I can remember. That was a weird time. One day they were talking about the Watergate bugging, then there were hearings, then he went on TV and resigned and the next day he got on a helicopter and waved goodbye! That had NEVER happened before or since.

As to impeachment, here’s a bit of what Wikipedia has to say about that:

“Impeachment in the United States is an expressed power of the legislature that allows for formal charges against a civil officer of government for crimes committed in office. The actual trial on those charges, and subsequent removal of an official on conviction on those charges, is separate from the act of impeachment itself.Impeachment is analogous to indictment in regular court proceedings, while trial by the other house is analogous to the trial before judge and jury in regular courts. Typically, the lower house of the legislature will impeach the official and the upper house will conduct the trial.”

“Two U.S. Presidents have been impeached by the House of Representatives but acquitted at the trials held by the Senate: Andrew Johnson (trial) and Bill Clinton (trial). The House Judiciary Committee voted on Articles of Impeachment for President Richard Nixon, but he resigned before the full House of Representatives could vote on any articles. Since the entire House did not vote, Nixon was never impeached.”

Duke, Trff: way to banter around names in the presence of the hostage. I’m sure no one will figure who the odd couple are with monikers like those.

Criminal misuse of taxpayer dollars to impeach on that. Seriously!
