I saw somewhere that a tv had a button on it labeled “find remote”. Now that makes sense to me.

AH, I remember ‘clickers’, back in the 60’s, we had a colour Zenith TV and every time my mom would fold the ironing board, it would turn off the TV, and of course, parents being what they where back then, they kept the ‘clicker’ in a hidden location from the kids, so off mom went to retrieve it and turn the TV back on. If the TV was turned off by the ‘clicker’ it had to be turned back on with it!

Ah, those where the days my friends…..

My first TV remote was sonic, making a loud “CHUNG!” sound. It’s a good thing the technology moved on or else we’d all be hunting for our chungers.

Remote controls have been around as long as there have been televisions. They used to be called “the kids.”

Us kids were the remote control when I was young. I sometimes think that’s why people had kids back then.

Our first TV was a black and white TV with a lighted ring around the tube because people believed that it would ruin your eyes to watch it in the dark. Our first remote TV had a remote which generated a sound too high to hear, and a regular turret wafer switch type channel tuner that was connected to a motor with a chain drive. Enough channel switching would mess up the fine tuning so that you had to retune each channel periodically through a hole in the front of the tuner using a plastic screwdriver called a “diddle stick”.

My son had a dog who kept getting out of the back yard. Son, in his infinite brilliance, buys a shock collar to train the dog. Dog, in his infinite stupidity, realizes that there is a remote control that is inflicting this shock, so while son & wife are at work, dog destroys every remote control in the house !

They should have a free app that you put on your cellphone to “Find My TV Remote”. Press the app and your remote would make a sound. Now, if you’re sitting on it when you press the app on your cellphone, you might not hear the sound.
