How does doing a chest compression from behind cause the broach to be dislodged from the throat? The Heimlich maneuver should be done below the rib cage with a quick in and upward motion.

It is a literal life saving technique. My son runs a before and after school child care center and keeps his first aid training updated….good thing too.

He used the Heimlich to save a child’s life just last month when a piece of apple lodged in her airway.

Well if you want to get really medical about it…if Slim was choking and his away was blocked, he wouldn’t be going Gaff…choke…(etc.)—he wouldn’t be able to make any sounds at all. He’d just quietly turn blue and maybe head for the bathroom. Hopefully he’d remember to raise his arms as the signal of distress.
