    “Love Conquers All” (Year Unknown)

There’s a song called that also.

Not wanting to “hi-jack” the thread, I only wanted to say this reminds me of what I learned that helped me to see that sometimes, bad things happen because of our imperfection, and “time and unforeseen occurences”, but that there is hope for all in the future, and that in the meantime, it NEVER HURTS to show love for people, even when there’s no “special reason”! (Ecclesiastes 9:11;Romans 5:12; Isaiah 65:21-24; Revelation 21: 3,4;)

Many things happen each day in the world, in our nation and in our towns. Sometimes it happens right in our own homes. But what a great message to share with our young ’uns.

    Thanks Guy.

My first thought when I got the news of 9/11 was “They may destroy, but I’m going to keep building.”

Try the book When Bad Things Happen to Good People. It was written by Rabbi Harold Kushner, who suffered one of life’s greatest tragedies, losing a child to disease.

On a brighter note. Wish Fritzi would give me a hug, or any other nice woman.

Folks use the phrase “God’s will” too freely. The more exact phrase is “God allows”.It is God’s will that the world be at peace and harmony, but He allows man a free will to choose and decide. If God willed it to be done, we would have no choice. I’m reminded of Abby Scuito who keeps trying to be good, no matter what and hoping she will in turn make things better. That is what we need to do.That is what Fritzi is telling Nancy.Good strip, Guy!

Probably just in general. Man is born to sin as the sparks fly upward.

I’m always more interested in why good things happen to bad people. And never bought the idea that it’s payment for whatever good they did by accident, and now won’t get to heaven for.

I almost forgot… people may wonder why bad things happen, but I was reminded of this, too… there’s a scripture in the Bible that says God does not try us with evil things, so to go with @Colonel Claus’ comment, God is not evil, and it would be unloving for Him to try anyone…. it’s not his way! (James 1:13)

And for those of us who don’t believe in the fairy tales in that book?^Well, as your name may suggest, you appreciate liberty, do you not? You exercise that liberty to choose not to put faith in the Bible… that right/privilege is yours… it is not for me to dictate to you.-But the question is, whatever a person doesn’t choose to put faith in, is there not SOMETHING that they do put faith in? Whatever you may choose to, again, it’s your right, your privilege, your freedom…—You are free to choose for yourself. I am only expressing my thoughts, nothing more, nothing less, just as you also can choose to do, here.. many have expressed their views here and elsewhere. We can accept what another expresses, or choose not to. Nothing more, nothing less. Is one right? Is one wrong? Is it both, one, or none? It’s not productive to argue over such things. War and Politics and Newscasts seem to do that a lot. Well, we can both appreciate that truth is truth, and it will be proven… not because of what people say but because again truth is truth and time will show it. We each have faith in Someone, something. It truly does matter about having faith… But what is true isn’t merely because a person wants to say it’s true, it’s because that truth proves to be true. Nothing more, nothing less.

Times like these, they need to share with Phil and Sluggo – they are probably both feeling a bit down at the same time.
