Baldo: Dad, I've had a job for a long time now. Baldo: When do you think I can get a credit card? Dad: Baldo, credit cards are a terrible idea! Dad: Take it from someone who has 10 of 'em.
The problem most people have is that they use them to buy things they can’t afford. They have no self control. I pay for things with my credit cards and pay them off when they come due. I have excellent credit score and I intend to keep it that way.
We have one credit card between us. We pay it off every month, and in our particular system, it makes for better record keeping, not to mention is necessary when reserving hotel rooms or renting cars, etc. They are, like so many tools, simultaneously useful and dangerous, requiring training and judgement.
you got that right training and judgement I am only using my gas cards at a minimum but because even if you pay off all the cards you could still be penalized for having to many
We have been using a credit card to avoid carrying much cash, cash-back payments, and to get a single record for the files, then paying it off before interest kicks in. However, the great stealer of houses is now demanding payment of interest on a balance of zero (paid on time)! After hours of haggling, they refunded the $1.59 stolen interest, but will take more next month.
Credit cards are a necessary evil this day and age. My sis-in law is a pharm tech, makes twice the median income in her area and was trying to buy a small home, had 20% down + closing costs, and pleanty of income. But all the stuff she’d bought “on credit” like her funiture wasn’t reported to the credit tracking co’s so she has NO credit history at all and couldn’t get approved….

Haven’t had a credit card in 40 years. Do I miss them? You figure it out.

I use a credit card to get 30 or 40 percent extra off , then go directly to office and pay amount charged. No interest.
