Aunt Fritzi: A card AND two flowers?
Voice (out of frame): You're the only MOM I've ever known. I love you.
Aunt Fritzi: You TWO say the sweetest things! You're making me CRY! You guys really take the cake!
Nancy: OOH! There's CAKE?
See? This shows that you donāt need a designated day to show your appreciation! And like the Nancy strip I saw on FB yesterday, it would be nice for EVERYIONE to have someone in their life to make a real differenceā¦.. and it would be nice to have more good cake around, ha ha!-āāExcuse meā¦ I have some pipes that are leaking awesome to tend to, theyāre starting to flood my eyesā¦..
Havenāt found any ā40s, yet, but I found this from bcdb.com (Big Cartoon DataBase):
Nancy and Sluggo Cartoon Episode Guideā¢Filmation Associatesā¢Cartoon Characters: Nancy, Sluggo.ā¢Voice Actors: Jane Webb, Howard Morris.ā¢Directed By Hal Sutherland.ā¢Produced By Lou Scheimer, Norm Prescott.ā¢Animated By Bob Bransford, Dick Hall, Jim Drummett, Lee Halpern, Lars Calonius, LaVerne Harding, Otto Feuer, Russ Von Neida, Ed Friedman, Lou Kachivas, Bill Nunes, Len Rogers, Casey Onaitis; more Animators More Cartoon Animatorsā¦ā¢Written By Jim Ryan, Bill Danch, Ken Sobol.ā¢ First Aired on September 11, 1971.ā¢ Originally Aired on CBS Television CBS-TV (USA).-Will let you know if thereās moreā¦
Nancy was featured in three animated shorts by the Terrytoons studio in 1942ā43: School Daze, Nancyās Little Theater and Doing Their Bit. -The third one, I believe, is the one you mentioned seeing. Also of note, are the Animations done for Filmation, including both āArchieās TV Funniesā and āthe Fabulous Funniesā, done in the 1970sā¦.
Sure! Glad to help! Iāve also tried searching different sites for the ā40s ones, but to no avail so far. Hopefully someone else may know where else they could be, or maybe thereās a compilation floating out there, if anyone knowsā¦ --But the 70s ones are on Amazon, thoughā¦.
I see Nancy is getting to what really counts to her in that last panel. Donāt get mad, as Kenny Delmar used to say, thatās a joke son, thatās a joke.
" I assume that is NOT what you meant."^Given the way some people (but not all) react to Ellieās āsometimes polarizing parenting styleā, (e.g., ānaggingā and āyellingā), in āFor Better or Worseā, I think she may haveā¦-āKinda same for Calvinās mom, but in a different wayā¦..
this is a 100 % improved Nancy! Even as a child, the old Nancy was boring. That is one great thing about childhood os that you pretty much never bored by the little stuff!

I guess compared to Fritzi, Blondie Bumstead, and Dennisā mom Alice Mitchell, everybody else WOULD seem to look like Joan Crawfordā¦ ha ha!
