First of all, good to see the Puddle is still there and not drained and paved over. Second, there are hills in northwest Connecticut.

is that reunions have become? a version of akira kurosawa’s madadayo. when they were younger, the reunions are like frat parties. now, they are older, the reunions are less frat parties, and more subdued ie healthy living, remembrances, etc…

Since Walden College is more Yale than anything else, it’s not NW Connecticut. There are enough hills and ridges of sufficient size in south-central/southwest CT. Besides, Zonk is either high or flashing-back to a high.

You don’t have to read any of them. Reading comments is highly overrated. I just found a lovely cartoon blog on blogspot entitled hyperboleandahalf. Go read that, it’s excellent.

Why isn’t Zonker’s hair grey like the rest of the Boomers? Perhaps this reunion will answer that question.

My daughter visited Walden just last year. She wasn’t impressed with it in comparison to many other things Massachusetts had to offer. But, she said it is ok for what it is. That means a lot coming from a 14 year old, I guess.

Should be fun to see a big gathering of the characters in one place.

@montessoriteacher I’m impressed that a 14-year-old girl knows about Walden and actually goes there to see it. Good for her.

And yes, it will be fun to se who-all comes and how they interact. I find myself idly wondering how many can fit in Walden Puddle. Don’t think I ever saw more than two in there at once.

Regarding location – early strips (70s) strongly imply that Walden is close to Boston, then geography goes non-specific for a few years, and I think it is somewhere in the 2nd half of the 80s that Walden is explicitly placed in Connecticut.

Yes, you to can go to a fine four year school and get you genuine BA degree which allows you to go to homecoming, reunions and the great football games. It also allows you to have a massive student debt and make less than the people who got a two year technical degree at a community college.

A Walden reunion. A nice large gathering of Doonesbury characters. Should look like the Donnesbury version of the Peanuts characters at the school dance. What fun!

This comic does bring back memories!! And it is true — ignoring the total nonsense is the only answer with trolls as they simply are children having tantrums with no reason behind any of it — and no reason needed or wanted.

I still wonder if the writings of both Trolls are simply the work of one very deranged individual sitting in Momma’s basement with way too much time on his hairy little hands.

Hey, hey don’t be stealing my material.

One of the earliest Walden reunions featured Mark as a Bartender, in this set from 40 years ago: http://www.gocomics.com/doonesbury/1973/05/07 Walden pond looks the same, but there is no background at all.

I think this is Zonker’s first time “reconnecting” with Walden Puddle since Seinfeld went off the air, in this strip: http://www.gocomics.com/doonesbury/1998/05/01

Before that, when was the Puddle last seen? In the 1973 strip Mike31g mentions?
