Yeah, I know . . . tradition and all that. But the fact is most other cities would have run perennial losers like the Chicago Cubs out of town a long time ago.
As a long suffering masochist ( read Cubs and Red Sox fan ), the only tradition at Wrigley I would like to see destroyed in my lifetime, is the Cubs losing seasons….
The Cub’s (current) controversy is not the scoreboard but the advertising signage, which is to be LARGE & electronic. The principal objectors are the corporations that surround the ballpark.
I’ve read that Wrigley would have had stadium lights and night games decades ago if it hadn’t been for WW II and the need for metal that prevented the team from putting up lights way back then.
The least time the Cubs won the world series was over 100 years ago. The last time they even MADE it to the world series was before the NBA existed…….Who in their right mind would want to advertize with them?

I remember the big flap made over equipping Wrigley Field with lights. Chicago traditions die hard. And some of them don’t die at all.

“Alabama_Al” Is obviously not a baseball fan. We Red Sox fans waited 80 years for a second World series Championship.

Traditions in sports? Kind of disappeared when free agency and businesses became part of the deal.
