I never got to go to camp, and my first trips in the high sierra in my 20s frightened me endlessly; I was sure a bear would eat me alive when they came around at night. Now I am retired and live on the eastern slope, backpack and hike alone and am thrilled when I see a bear or a snake or even tracks. And I am a girl!
“Max and Ruby” is a cartoon. Ruby is a young girl bunny; Max is her little brother, who usually speaks only single words. There are no parental figures; just Grandma, who comes to visit. Ruby is a typical Big Sister in that she’s bossy and patronizing. My daughters watch the show, and I have warned my older daughter that is she EVER treats her little sister the way Ruby treats Max, she’s in big trouble.

That’s like when I had to go to day camp for 2 weeks every Summer until I was too old for it. It wasn’t my choice to make.

Yes, the queen snake is an actual snake species. But fortunately for Linus, they’re nonvenomous.

Not sure about Queen snakes, but I did catch a King snake in my living room last month. Maybe I should go look for his Queen?
