Perhaps Charlie Brown SHOULD have tried “raising goldfish,” or something—don’t forget, there was that one other Peanuts strip, a Sunday issue, many years later, after this, from the 1980s, which had ended with Charlie thinking,“I’ll bet I could get a GREAT TRADE, for a NICE HAMSTER!”(by trading Snoopy, of course)-it had started, with CB telling Snoopy,“Heel!” which Snoopy twisted around, by simply showing CB his heel, then his toes, then his paws, and finally, his nose, and then broke into a song, going,“Heel! Toes! Paws! Nose! Oh,yes, Oh,yeah!” So maybe Charlie SHOULD have gotten rid of Snoopy, LONG AGO.
I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: the genius of Charles Schulz. This strip made me laugh out loud, too…all these years later.
So many personalities and humorous recurring story lines…it’s such a joy to enjoy sequences I’d forgotten, or, in the case of this WWII Flying Ace Vet Visit, enjoy again.
My first squadron patch featured Snoopy in his flying gear. We couldn’t get the whole dog house on the patch, so he’s aboard a flying carpet (guess he upgraded his aircraft type).
Snoopy is one of my favorite animated characters, but Charlie Brown would really be better with another dog. I wonder how Brian Griffin would treat Charlie Brown.
I have this comic I think..wonder what Linus thought when Snoopy leapt on him!!!!!….guess goldfish wouldn’t be as exciting as Snoopy I bet….Charlie got punched in the stomach huh?!!!!!!

I noticed the copyright on this strip as being from 1966. WWI was about as far back in time from this strip as this strip is from us

In response to Linus, CB’s probably thinking to himself, “Why can’t I have a normal dog like everyone else?”
