    The expression on Jack’s face (in the last panel) tugged at my heartstrings. It’s often difficult as a parent to resist swooping down and rescuing our kids from their bad decisions.

    Cutting them open is getting their money’s worth? If the shoes are hardly used they should have sold them on ebay or given them to charity or something. I know it’s supposed to be a joke but something with this scenario is very wrong.

    As a parent of a 12-year-old soccer-playing boy, I can tell you that, after a month, the U. S. Postal Service, and any other delivery service would consider his soccer shoes a hazardous material. Ebay is out. Actually, donation is an interesting avenue. I think I’ll research that for a future strip.
