@ old1953.Hopefully you realize there is a difference in degrees between art history (which is someone who can identify who made a different picture or sculture) and graphic design (which is the person who makes the artwork.) Someone who is a painter or cartoonist would had a graphic design degree, not a art history.

Bleepin’ academic specialization… there was a time when all higher education, regardless of what the degree would actually say, began with what was then called a basic foundation in the liberal arts (this was, obviously, before “liberal” became a four-letter word). So, while I was getting my Computer Science degree, learning to design operating systems, processors and low-level electronic circuits (CS was at the time just separating itself from EE), I was also learning to draw and paint (including a half-semester of art history), reading great works of literature (Western and Eastern), writing short stories and devising social-psychology experiments. This was not unusual at the time; it was considered part of being a well-rounded human being, a good citizen, and a better engineer. Alas, this does not appear to be the case anymore, and I think we are worse off as both individuals and society as a result.

Too true, sir, but this time you cannot attribute it to the tea party fringe.

I had the best possible public school education under the last school superintendent with a PhD in Humanities. Since then, they’ve all been MBAs. Coming out of college, I had total school loans of $1000 — which was a challenge to pay off. It took me awhile to find myself but I was always able to afford housing ($85 a month utilities included but no phone) and peanut butter. I don’t think my experience could be replicated today. and I wouldn’t trade it.

Chess, that’s what you get when you let liberals run Stormtrooper Academy. :-)

Two comments on yesterday’s discussion of prime numbers:1. Any number can be divided by any other number (division by zero is not defined in our math, however). When a mathematician says one number is divisible by another, though, he or she means, “Is divisible without a remainder,” or “Is divisible in the field of integers.” Thus, though 17 can be divided by 3, it is not “divisible” by 3. A prime number, 17 is divisible only by itself and 1. 2. I WAS WRONG when I said that 17 was the only prime number divisible by two, even though I was joking. In fact, as was pointed out, the number 2 is divisible by 2. It is prime, because it is divisible only by itself and 1, and 2 is an even number. My faith in math has been totally destroyed.

I thought I recognized this guy as one of the occutards.

Look…you just gots to have a art history guy…who else is gonna tell you what to loot and what to leave AFTER you conquer the place? Sheesh…what’s the point of conquering if there ain’t no LOOTIN????
