thanks 3 steps over!Well they both said things they regret, looks like.No good came of it to either of them. Linda now at best considers herself homeless, and Maude, is at best, all jumbled up emotionally. Missing her husband, probably missing Linda’s companionship, rage spent for now but with incoming guilt, like a cold steel rain.
A world shattered, and continually reshattered, always reliving the moment, over and over, like a fractal pattern of pain and sadness, spiraling ever downward till even the sand weeps.
I’d be guessing that she would be heading for the clock tower to sort herself out and see what she’s going to do with herself. If Linda goes there, she’ll meet Angus and will hear about Holly’s brush with suicide. Will she go to the hospital? I’m taking Maude’s comments at face value, that she figured out Linda’s past, tried to look past it but can’t. Now she’s stuck between her inability to see past Linda’s past and her loneliness. I have a feeling that Linda may have been the only other female tenant in the building, which would have made her special to Maude.
I’m starting to think that Maude came to the conclusion that Linda was a Topsider during the Milk Trial. While she may have started making connections between Linda’s behavior, getting into fights ect… and new mutation but she was still friendly towards Linda. I doubt that her toast to Love and Cake would have seemed as sincere if she was struggling with the notion that Linda was part of the community that murdered Sam.There would have been a lot of time to think in that holding cell. Time to ponder Linda’s behavior, fresh mutations and who was left to mutate. I somehow have the impression that the three didn’t talk much by the start of the trial. Maybe Maude had figured it out and was struggling with her feelings about this former topsider. I wouldn’t convict anybody on the evidence but it seems to hold together none the less.
I suppose one of her options is going Topside, but there is that satellite to think about. I doubt that she is going to risk giving the Topsiders a chance to massacre Endtown. They turned their backs on her the moment they saw that she had been mutated. She owes them nothing! Her best bet is to go to the Tower.Perhaps along the way, she’ll hear about the Oracle.Perhaps there’s another magical tree hanging on by a thread.Perhaps Maude will want to visit the Oracle as well, and the two end up bumping into each other. We’ll see…
All that sweet creme icing flowing down, someone left the cake out in the rain.I don’t think that I could take it,it took real long to bake it, and Maude won’t give me any more milk, AGAIN!!!!!!!Oh NOOOOOOO!(Closing orchestra music)Surf does that help??
What if Aaron Marx shows up leading a ferret kit, all big eyed and scared. YOu know he can work magic. So he appears beside Linda, whom he likes a lot, and said " I got your little fella for you. Made sure he was sound asleep when wI took his bio-suit off.then, like he does, he leaves. so there is Linda, homeless with this very young boy, that when she talks to him realizes it IS her own child.
“You’re waitress?” Trudy gasped.“Yeah.,” I said. “What of it?”“But I thought you were a guy!”“Lousy writers.” I replied. I began changing into my uniform. “We have a temporary opening on the day shift. You want the job?”

Retro kitchen suite. Just like the one my grandma had when I was young.

She may be going to the Oracle for advice. But most likely she has no idea.
