This is a learned art that only children can perfect. Some of them, if they are lucky ( and we aren’t ) seem to carry it through to adulthood with great aplomb !

Selective hearing… or practiced ignoring. I’m not sure… I’ve used them both interchangeably over the years as situations called for.
