Goat should have phrased that differently: “Go to hell, Rat.”

I predict Pastis is going to get some angry letters about this one.

I wouldn’t have expected Rat to pray at all, but this is the prayer I would expect from a praying Rat. Goat is overly judgemental for a cartoon character, but I can appreciate his sentiment. Rat is sooooo bad….

It’s good to try to change the things we cannot accept. There are many unacceptable things that need changing—and don’t change because good people do nothing.

That would cover the first paragraph of the prayer.

I have to admit guilt. I am like Rat. I have a motto on my desk.“It’s hard to be humble when you are as great as I am.”I have had that thing for over 40 years.

Goat, the erstwhile presumptive nerd, has taken a beating lately. And not much to be heard from the zebra and crocs.

I prefer Waterson’s (Calvin & Hobbes) version:Lord, grant me the power to change what I can,The inability to accept what I can’t,And the incapacity to tell the difference

    …Or something like that…

Sounds like a perfectly good prayer to me. Unless you can’t change what you can’t accept. Then you just drive yourself nuts.
