I smell a religious debate…

Oh, so many “devotees” will be locked out.

Hey, why not?

I’ve always thought God has a great sense of humor, but we’re too scared to laugh.

Personally, I’ve never seen a more hilarious universe than this one….

Reminds me of a similar Bizarro comic with the line “You were a believer, yes. But you skipped the not-being-a-jerk-about-it part.”

Is DW sick? He hasn’t chimed in about howhumorless — among other things — theyou-know-who’s are!

Look, I was just born into this place a little over sixty years ago, but it does look like there’s somethin’ funny goin’ on around here…

Those two look grouchy, but if they had made the journey with their teeth, we could see that they are really smiling.

Let’s have some objectivity about this… what’s bad may be good or maybe not… But we know God has a sense of humor … he created the platypus duck what is not funny about that?

I think agnosticism fits me better. I want to believe, but anything to do with organized religion makes me run the other way – REAL fast.

Consider God. Self-existent, eternal Being. Creates humanity with free will to have relationship with them, but they spit in his face. Because He is holy, eternal separation is inevitable, but He sends His own Son – gives up part of Himself, really – to receive a punishment for our sin. Of course, the rules change and forgiveness must be received by faith. All that, and He does have a sense of humor too; it’s just a little hard to see until you get to know Him.

I don’t want to start any blasphemous rumors, but I think that God has a sick sense of humor, and when I die, I expect to find him laughing…

You’ll note that the prohibition against the humorless wasn’t specified to religion, I have seen many a Conservative, Liberal, Feminist, et al, who have had their sense of humor surgically removed.

It’s hard to say if the sign itself is just a joke or if it’s serious. God must be fond of paradoxes. OTOH, no sense of humor = not Heaven but the other place.

.Go watch the movie “Dogma” for some interesting theological food for thought. Having a sense of humor is mandatory to appreciate it, though.

The cartoon would be funnier without the kicker.

re:nabuquburiuzhur, I would tell Clark Kent not to blame god for man’s errors. and advise you to not blame women/feminists for human nature. Men have been running around, messing around for ever. Or do you think that “keeping the women locked away” is a good solution? Just asking.

And as for everyone talking about God’s sense of humor, I say that he does have a great one. He is complete, eternal joy. But he wouldn’t kick all humorless people out of heaven.

Of course God has a sense of humor… remember Michelangelo’s fresco in the Sistine Chapel with his famous “Pull My Finger” joke?

Yes the Missouri (or as we called them, Misery) synod was very conservative. They still don’t allow women to be pastors. My family changed over to the Lutheran Church in America in the 60’s. I now belong to a Lutheran Church that has openly gay pastors and a pastor that was Hindu.

God has a sense of humor… check out the roly poly (pill bug). It rolls up into a sphere and has square poop.

I don’t think the platypus looks strange at all. It fits into its ecological niche quite well.

I was brought up LCMS also. Eventually, I was excommunicated. My mother wondered how they could do such a thing. .I wondered what took them so long.

Always suspected that God does not like us to put words in his mouth, and that God does not like being mocked. And I suspect the absolutists will do better with God than will the relativists – at least the former do what they do for God’s sake, and not for themselves alone.

My atheism has nothing to do with any church experience. Nothing to do with anyone of faith I’ve ever known. It has nothing to do with anger, disappointment or hatred of any gods. It’s simply the fact that I’ve never seen any persuasive reason to believe that any magical superbeings exist. Nothing in evidence. Nothing in logic.
