I went to Singapore in 2002. I had both a Canadian and an American flag. Day 1, I wore the American Flag. Local’s avoided eye contact, and were not helpful when I was looking at my map. I had to go into stores to ask about prices… and was often ignored unless I asked 2-3 times.A few days later, I wore a Canadian flag. If I pulled out my map almost immediately, someone offered help. A clothing shop I’d passed on “day 1”, the guy walked out to ME, and offered me the same suit he’d offered me before, at $500SGD less than when I wore the American flag. ..My point? Canadian’s are treated much nicer abroad, than American’s are. Wear a Canadian Flag, and say “eh” alot.
