at work, we have 3 staplers per desk. due to the varying thickness of the paperwork(going digital didn’t resolve that issue), 1 stapler that staples up to 10 sheets, 1 stapler that staples up to 30 sheets, and 1 stapler that staples up to 4". because, people still want a hard copy of the digital copy. a hard copy of multiple spreadsheets. hard copy of database report query. back ups of the hard copy with hard copy and a digital copy. so much paper.
when I first looked at the picture I did not see a skirt or a hand up a skirt. I saw her chair back…….I must be one of the few folks on here that doesn’t see all the make believe sexual stuff. Some folks just have dirty minds.
Did you read any of the previous comments? You’re not the first to misinterpret the drawing. His hand is behind the back of her chair. And the word you wanted is ‘to,’ not ‘too.’
I wonder if any of those commenters trying too hard to see something dirty, and show off how clever they are for blowing the whistle on it, even looked at the actual gag?
According to the movie notes, there were no red Rio Swingline 747 staplers, so they had four custom painted fire engine red at an auto body shop. The demand was so great after the movie, Swingline added the red stapler to the product line.
Love your Milton, awesome strip. Being a movie geek I have had to come to expect that the majority of people don’t watch movies and “cult followings/classics” only exist to prove how cool I really am! Keep up the great work!
Mark up another one who’s never seen Office Space. Hey, I don’t expect to get ALL of the jokes. Every cartoonist — occasionally — plays to a niche audience. Heck, stuff like Zippy the Pinhead ALWAYS plays to a niche audience.
Office space. Swingline did not make a red stapler until they made one just for this film. It became such an icon after the film went cult, that swingline started selling them to the public.
I never saw the movie either, but own many RED appliances (toaster, stand mixer, blender, icecream machine, coffee maker, kitchen files Some of my stuff is white or silver tho’
Milton began in cartoon form. Much of the dialogue was the same as the scene in OFFICE SPACE when the boss is asking him to go ahead and move his desk.
I think I’m glad I couldn’t read the strip until this late in the day. I’d have been lost. …However, I will say that I never thought anything other than that guy’s hand was behind CJ’s chair. Some people’s minds are permanently searching the gutter for fodder.
I too must live under a rock. Never heard of “Office Space”. But being territorial by nature (what tiger isnt?) Saw a new character reach for a stapler that was not his. AND without asking!.Such a pretty looking stapler. I am stuck with black. But red would be cool. And so much easier to id when lifted from your desk.

Is it just me or does it look like his left hand is exploring said skirt?

For those of you familiar with the WWE, he reminds me of Paul Bearer without the Urn. RIP Bill Moody.

What skirt? You talking about her chair back?
Thomas Scott Roberts creator over 11 years ago
You see what you want to see. But not very accurately. She’s not wearing a skirt, and his hand is behind her chair.

1) Agree, chair back
2) Doesn’t she play “for the other team” or am I getting character details mixed up?
Gracias,

I guess most of the previous comments have never seen the classic movie Office Space or they would get the joke

Think that those who invested in paper company stock when the term “paperless office” was developed must be wealthy several times over by now.

Obviously some people don’t think so or it wouldn’t be a cult hit.

The hand is simply behind a chair. “Nuff said.”

It wasn’t a show, it was a movie. It’s become a cult hit on video.

I haven’t seen Office Space, so I didn’t understand the comic until I had read the comments, but that’s just fine. It’s a good one. Thanks!

Great rendering of Stephen Root. How long has Milton worked at the company?
