But… if Guido is on the sofa, why doesn’t everyone else just sleep in their own beds?

I don’t suppose Gretchen has a bed there. She just suddenly showed up recently, so she’s probably been sleeping on the sofa. Now, seems taken Slim’s bed and kicked him out. He’s awfully tolerant.

Now, in addition to not liking Guido and thinking he is nefarious and slimy, I am not really liking Gretchen anymore either. To tell her father to go sleep in the garage is awfully damn rude when it is not her house, not her anything.

When I was a teenager and my out of town boyfriend planned to stay for the weekend, my mother told me I would have to sleep with her because it would be proper. She told me that it was inproper for me to sleep alone while a boyfriend was sleeping in our house. That is what this is all about. Gretchen knows that her mother would not stand for it. If Guido stays in her home, her daughter is sleeping with her, and that is final.

Forget Dick Tracy. We need Fearless Fosdick to straighten out this mess!.People complain that Slim is “stupid.” His real problem is that he’s too tolerant, as Neil Wick has said. Or, a pushover, which is what I say..Newly returned to this strip, I was unaware of Clovia’s abuse of Slim, as suggested by prasrinivara. I now have even less sympathy for any characters in this strip..Except Slim..But then, right now is his chance: I have been saying, again and again and again, Slim needs to pack up and leave – go find a comic strip where he can be appreciated!.With even his own daughter now pushing him out (and now it’s been noted that Clovia has been doing the same), I think the time is right!.No more playing second, third, and fourth fiddle to these dogs!

If Slim sleeps in the garage – as in the garage that he and Clovia run and that his father-in-law founded – maybe he’ll remember to actually go to work.
