Caulfield: Halloween is tomorrow. I really, really can't wait to show off my new costume. I'm literally climbing the walls! I mean literally. Frazz: Of course you do.
Im going with Khafka’s Metamorphosis. Caulfield would never do something so obvious as Spiderman. He likes to keep us guessing! Plus that earlier reference to “pest”. Cockroaches are clear “pests”. Spiders are good.
Senex — it is indeed hard to avoid caps, but remember, Don Marquis (marquis?) capitalized Archie when writing about him in the third person. The name was in lower case only when Archie was writing in the first person since he couldn’t operate the shift key.
My votes: Gregor S. as first choice, Archie as a distant second choice. Not sure I can think of any other famous buggy pests, unless Caulfield dons a sombrero and dances in to La Cucaracha, which might be a little non-PC for Mallet. Though if Mallet really wants to be Kafkaesque, he could have Caulfield come as Holden C. from “Catcher,” since he was rather a pain in the rear to many people in the book — and has been ever since to people who like to ban books..

Mmmm… yeah… Gregor Samsa seems to be the winner.

So…not Spider man?

Yup. Gregor it is.That’s my bet.So how does he dress like him?
Caulfield doesn’t usually do anything as obvious as a bug suit, so I’m guessing he’ll be the “before” character….but that seems a bit nondescript.

I’m thinking “The Fly” by George Langelaan

I still want it to be Archie, but sadly almost no one remembers him.

archie’s typewriter might be a challenge, but it would be a worthy one!

Love the suggestions Holden’s sister and Archie, but I think it’s clearly Gregor S.

Maybe he’s going as Mrs. Olsen. He always has her climbing the walls.

if you’re not heavy enough to push down the shift lock key… (congratulations on spelling “archy” correctly!)

Literally everybody!!! And if I’ve told them once I’ve told them literally a million times. Mixed metaphors.
