I’m hoping this is just a Halloween ghost story. I’ve become paranoid from all the great strips I’ve seen close down over the years, so I was afraid that LD would go in and that would be the end of the strip.
I know it would ruin the strip if he found a home, but I wish he would anyway. It always breaks my heart when he’s so hopeful about finding a home and doesn’t.
Unexpected and genuinely creepy. Glad to see LD being circumspect in whom he follows, even after all this time. Good representation of a cautious dog, too. Our sweet little Ty was so suspicious all her life that when she’d climb the fence and we’d go looking for her she’d even give us the hairy eyeball before submitting to being rescued. Again. Miss her big time. (uh, not lost. Died a year ago at 16.)
Spooky and somber, in both premise and execution; it’s impossible to tell whether the entity is coaxing LDL out of loneliness or malevolence, which is what makes it so disturbing.

Run, Little Dog! And take Torti with you. I don’t think they’re giving out bones.

I wonder if it’s his master’s ghost?

Reminiscent of 2011’s Halloween Sunday offering: http://www.gocomics.com/littledoglost/2011/10/30#.Um0vGfmfhmw

…and, as Wild Sow said, eerily similar to the 2011 strip.

I was horrified at first, LDL looking for a home and all, but surely something will happen to save him!!! (Right, Steve?)

This reminds me of the one where he slept in the arms of the angel statue. So sad :-(

Too sinister for me. The 2011 and 2012 Halloween strips were at least sweet and thought-provoking. This is just sad and cruel. Lighten up, Steve!

I just looked up last year’s Halloween strip, and that, too, is truly haunting, in more than one sense.
